D.C. firefighters thaw out frozen equipment at house fire

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Firefighters had to thaw out frozen equipment including ladders and fire hydrants with flares while battling a a house fire in Northwest D.C. Sunday morning.

According to the D.C. Fire Department, firefighters responded to a heavy house fire at the 3600 block of Park Place NW.

Only one non-life threatening injury was reported and five people are displaced including one child.

Additional units were requested to rotate personnel due to the extreme cold.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
