Off duty D.C. officer fatally shot in Baltimore

BALTIMORE, Md. -- A sergeant with the D.C. police force died in Baltimore early this morning after he was shot inside a parked car.

Tony Mason Jr., 40, was found shot inside of a parked car on the 2800 block of Elgin Avenue, along with a 43-year-old woman who was also suffering gunshot wounds. Mason was taken to a hospital, and died of his injuries. The woman is being treated for her injuries.

Police believe the two were sitting in the car when an unknown suspect walked up to them and began shooting, then left the scene.
