Prince George’s volunteer fire chief arrested
PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — Police say that they have arrested a volunteer chief for the Silver Hill Fire Department after he allegedly fled a traffic stop.
Officers say they were dispatched to Lisa Drive in Waldorf for a report of a man threatening to slash his girlfriend’s tires and saw Matthew Fowler, 49, in a Ford F-150 with PGFD logos. They say they initiated a traffic stop, but Fowler fled.
They pursued the vehicle on and off for several hours until they were reportedly able to pull Fowler over about a mile away from Lisa Drive. They arrested Fowler and charged him with 22 traffic violations, including negligent driving and reckless driving.
Police say Fowler was operating a fire department vehicle when the crimes occurred.
