Four charged in 1994 shooting in Montgomery County
MONTGOMERY CO., Md. – The Montgomery County Police Department says they have charged four people in connection with a shooting that happened back in June of 1994.
According to officials, the shooting happened in the 8500 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring, Maryland. The suspects, Phuoc V. Phan, Hiey Hien Vo, Nhan V. Bui, and Kha Ngoc Do were allegedly associated with the criminal street gang “So Koh,” a gang that was active in Maryland during the 90s. The four are now facing attempted murder charges, as well as conspiracy to commit murder of three people during that 1994 shooting.
At this time, Phuoc V. Phan and Kha Ngoc Do are currently incarcerated in the Montgomery County Detention Center on unrelated charges. Nhan V. Bui is serving a sentence in the Federal Correction Institution in Petersburg, Virginia.
Police also say that several other members of that street gang “So Koh” are persons of interest in the January 12, 1997 homicides of Hiek Chung and Chai Tan. Those murders happened in the King’s Kitchen Chinese Carryout located at 9224 Warren Street in Silver Spring.
If you have any information about any of these homicides or other unsolved homicides, police ask that you call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100.
