HAYMARKET, Va. -- Neighbors living in the quiet neighborhood of Crestview Lane in Haymarket were shocked to learn about 21-year-old Alec Michael Schrauder, turned vigilante, who came into their peaceful cul-de-sac Monday night with a mission to kill.
"Yea, like sexual stuff, attempted murder stuff, that's frightening.", said Mark Houser reacting to finding out that someone had been arrested on attempted murder charges so close to his home.
According to police, Schrauder showed up to a house on Crestview Ln to confront two men that he believes sexually assaulted his friend.
"It's just bizarre for this neighborhood.", said Houser.
Schrauder is charged with two counts of attempted murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
He is set to spend the rest of the summer behind bars while awaiting his next court appearance on September 25th.
Still, the situation has residents who have lived in the neighborhood for 20 years feeling uneasy.
"I'm shocked. I'm really shocked, but like I say, you don't really know who you live next door to.", said one resident who did not want to be identified.
Schrauder is being held without bond.
As for that sexual assault claim, police are investigating, but no arrests have been made.
