MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Police are reporting that a four-month-old baby was pronounced dead at a hospital this morning after she reported to have stopped breathing in a van.

Around 10:30 a.m., officers and fire and rescue responded to a parking lot at a Motel 6 for a report of an infant not breathing. First responders took the baby, who was non-responsive,  to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The baby has been identified as Brooklyn Ruth Irby. Police say their preliminary investigation  shows that the infant was with family members in the van prior to the call.

Police have been interviewing witnesses, and an autopsy will be completely in Baltimore. Until then, the death is labeled as undetermined. Anyone with information that could aid investigators in this case is asked to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
