Vandals cause tens of thousands in damage to Springfield elementary school

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Police are looking for answers after they say vandals destroyed property and set fires at White Oaks Elementary School overnight on June 3.

On that morning, a construction crew found destruction and signs of arson, including on the newly installed playground. The damage is in excess of $20,000.

The school is out of session for the summer, and the building is currently under construction. The damage is believed to have occurred overnight between July 2 and July 3.
