Fairfax police investigating inmate death

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — FCPD is investigating after an inmate was found hanging in his cell and unresponsive on July 2 at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

The inmate, 33, was committed to the detention center on June 27 on a malicious wounding charge and was being held without bond. Around 7 p.m. on Sunday night, the post deputy found him hanging in his cell.

Several deputies and medical staff responded and performed CPR until rescue arrived. He was pronounced dead at 7:24 p.m.

FCPD will release additional information about this death as it becomes available.
