Five injured in Baltimore steam pipe explosion

BALTIMORE CITY, MD — Police and fire crews are at the scene of a steam pipe explosion on Eutaw Street between Lombard and Pratt Streets in downtown Baltimore City.

Baltimore Fire says five people are injured and of those five at least two people have non-life threatening injuries.  The early photos tweeted by the fire department showed steam billowing over a hole in the street, now that crews cut off the steam, the photos show debris covering streets and cars.

Baltimore City Office of Emergency Management tweeted that Baltimore HazMat teams are monitoring the air and working to confirm the clouds are steam.

No word what caused this explosion.
