HOWARD CO., MD — Howard County prosecutors on Wednesday dropped the charges against an escaped prisoner.

David Watson, 28, was at large for six days earlier this month after he escaped his guards upon arriving to the Clifton T. Perkins Hospital Center. He was being taken to the state hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

Howard County State’s Attorney’s Office spokesperson says Watson was scheduled for a court hearing on Friday on charges of escape and second-degree assault.

He is serving a 106-year sentence in Delaware for attempted murder of a police officer.

Prosecutors say Watson is now back in Wicomico County.
