Police: Man rapes fellow nursing home resident
MONTGOMERY CO., MD — A 62-year-old man has been charged with raping a non-verbal and immobile woman at a nursing and rehabilitation center.
On April 2, staff members at the Kensington Nursing and Rehab Center noticed the victim’s door closed, but due to her treatment plan her door is never to be closed. When the staff opened the door, they said they saw Stanley Thomas sitting on the victim’s bed. Staff members removed Thomas from the room and waited until Montgomery County officers arrived.
A detective talked to Thomas in the center’s lounge area. According to court documents, Thomas told the detective he removed the victim’s diaper and sexually assaulted her for about 10 minutes. He also told the detective he kissed the victim in her mouth he also stated to the detective , “I could tell she liked it…”
Additionally, Thomas told detectives that he had engaged in similar conduct in the fall of 2016.
The victim’s public guardian and Adult Protective Services employee says her client suffers from Huntington’s Disease and other medical conditions which have caused her to not be able to speak and be confined to a bed. Her public guardian says her client is unable to acknowledge what is happening in her surroundings. Due to her medical condition, investigators say they were not able to interview the victim.
Thomas has been charged with two counts of second degree rape, and two other sexual offenses.
