PRINCE WILLIAM CO., Va. – The Prince William County Police Department reports that five arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Christian Alexander Sosa Rivas. Rivas’ body was found along the Potomac River on January 13th.

According to officials, police were able to determine the suspects were directly involved in the murder and that they were in the Newtown Township of Pennsylvania. With the help of local police, as well as receiving assistance from the FBI and the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, they were able to locate three suspects, one of whom was a minor. Two more suspects were charged as co-conspirators in the murder. They were arrested in near Baltimore, Maryland earlier this month, according to police.

Police have identified those suspects as Edgar Oswaldo Blanco Torres, 24, Jose Martir Larios Spenal, 20, and a 17-year-old male whose name has not been released. The two women arrested in Baltimore are Angelica Maria Blanco, 19, and Keyr Sujey Portillo Gonazalez, 18. All of these suspects will be extradited to Virginia in the near future.

Investigators believe this murder to be gang related, as several of those arrested are believed to be members of the street gang Mara Salvatrucha, more commonly known as MS13.
