Police: Fairfax gang member arrested in rape of 15-year-old
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — After searching for him since November, police on Monday found and apprehended a man who is the suspect of a rape that was committed back in July last year.
A detective who was assigned to a gang task force recognized the suspect, Ronald Contreras, 18, during a police operation in Prince William. He confirmed his identity and then took him into custody.
Contreras has been charged with rape, abduction with the intent to defile, gang participation, and assault and battery.
Back in November, police said the 15-year-old victim of this rape had reported to them that Contreras was a family friend, and she knew him to be a gang member. She told them he began to verbally threaten her and her family with harm if she didn’t stay in touch with him.
On July 13, police say Contreras dragged the girl into the woods, raped her and left her there.
Detectives say they would like to hear from anyone who has information about alleged criminal activity that Contreras has been involved, including other sexual offenses or assaults.
