WASHINGTON, DC — DC Public Schools is releasing new information regarding bus schedules for students at Savoy Elementary School this as children head to a new school. Last week, the school system decided to close the Savoy Elementary School for a few days after the discovery of bed bugs and rodents.
Savoy students are expected to attend school on Wednesday, February 8; however, for the time being, Savoy students will be attending Ferebee Hope Elementary School on Eight Street, Southeast.
“To support families through this temporary transition, DCPS will provide shuttle bus transportation to and from Savoy Elementary School and Ferebee Hope Elementary School,” Michelle Lerner, spokeswoman for DCPS, said.
The school system says buses will pick up students at Savoy along Shannon Place, SE, that’s in front of the school’s main entrance. Buses will pick up the children at 7:25 a.m. and the bus will leave at 7:50 a.m. There will be seven buses and each bus will pick different grade levels as follows:
- Bus 1 – Pre-K
- Bus 2 – Pre-K and K
- Bus 3 – 1st Grade
- Bus 4 – 2nd Grade
- Bus 5 – 3rd Grade
- Bus 6 – 4th Grade
- Bus 7 – 5th Grade
In the afternoon for dismissal, DCPS has three pick times scheduled starting at 3:15 p.m., then 4:15 p.m. and lastly at 6 p.m.. All drop off will be on Talbert Street, SE, in front of Savoy Elementary School’s parking lot.
The school system says that parents and guardians will not be able to ride the bus with their children.
