Driver injured after colliding with fire truck

WASHINGTON, D.C. – DC Fire and EMS reported that a fire truck collided with a car in Southeast, D.C. Monday morning. The unit was en route to an active fire.

According to officials, the accident occurred at the intersection of Southern Avenue and Valley Terrace, Southeast Monday morning. The fire truck was headed to a working fire at near Alabama Avenue and Naylor Road, Southeast. Officials reported that no firefighters were injured, but that one person was seriously injured. That person was transported to a local hospital.

The fire on Alabama Avenue is under control, officials say. The structure was vacant at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. According to fire officials, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
