WASHINGTON, D.C. - Protesters with Greenpeace USA have climbed a crane near the intersection of 15th and L Streets, Northwest. The activists also have a 70-foot by 35-foot banner reading "Resist."
According to a press release from Greenpeace USA the activists are "calling for those who want to resist Trump's attacks on environmental, social, economic, and educational justice." The release went on to say the activists would remain in position on the crane throughout the morning on Wednesday.
The Metropolitan Police Department released a statement saying they support their right to protest, but the actions of the activists are "dangerous and unlawful." Police have blocked off 15th Street between L and M Streets, as well as L Street between 15th and 16th Streets, causing traffic delays in the area.
