Florida man arrested for assaulting DC cop during riot

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Police say a man from Florida has been arrested for throwing a rock at officers during the riots in Northwest on President Trump’s inauguration day.

Dane Powell, 30, is from Largo. He has been arrested and charged with assault on a police officer while armed. The crime is said to have taken place around 3 p.m. on Friday.

Police say that initially, the suspect was able to escape from them in the chaos of the riots. Their investigation led to them identifying Powell as the rioter who had thrown the rock, and arresting him.
