HOWARD COUNTY, Md. — A 16-year-old Ellicott City girl is dead after a triple shooting that killed her, wounded her mother, and left the apparent shooter in critical condition after attempting suicide.

The mother has been treated at Shock Trauma and released. The suspect is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect is a 15-year-old white male from Ellicott City. They have identified him but are not releasing his name. They still don’t what his motive was, or if he has a connection to anyone in the household.
