MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — An officer was hunting for speeders with a radar gun when he pulled over a man for going ten miles an hour over the speed limit, and found that his car had two hundred and fifty pounds of marijuana in it.

When the officer stopped Steven Tosi, 53, he reports he smelled marijuana as soon as he approached the vehicle. He made note of the smell to Tosi, who claimed he’d just been smoking a joint inside the car.

Officers searched Tosi’s car on probable cause. They say they found about 250 lbs of marijuana, vacuum sealed in bundles, as well as the joint Tosi had mentioned in the front seat. The car turned out to be a rental.

Tosi was arrested and detectives say he told them he had picked up the pot in Pittsburgh and was delivering it to Virginia Beach. He remains in custody without bond.
