Possible burial site discovered in Maryland

Fruitland, MD — Criminal detectives are investigating a death investigation in Wicomico County.  State Police said that officers and forensic analysts are excavating a shallow grave which contains what police believe is a decomposed human body.

Monday night, the Fruitland Police Department was called in the 100 block of South Division Street to investigate a possible burial site.  Upon arrival, the local police department immediately contacted the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and Criminal Enforcement Division for assistance in the case.

The identity or gender of the body is not available at this time.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is taking the lead in this case. Assistance is being provided by the Criminal Enforcement Division and Fruitland Police Department.  There are no other details at this time.  The investigation is active and ongoing.
