Woman attacked by bear in Maryland

FREDERICK, Md. – A woman was attacked by a black bear on Wednesday night near Middletown, Maryland in Frederick County, according to the Maryland Natural Resources Police.

The attack happened around 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday in the 7600 block of Irongate Lane, police say. Karen Osborne, 63 was taken to the Meredith Hospital in Hagerstown for treatment of puncture wounds. She suffered from a broken arm, cuts to her head, and puncture wounds to both arms.

According to the Maryland Natural Resources Police, biologists are tracking the movements of the black bear involved in the attack. Police say that the bear in question in wearing a radio collar.
