Alexandria teen killed Saturday by reckless teen driver
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — An eighteen-year-old woman was killed on I-85 Saturday night when the driver of the car she was in ran off the road, hit a tree and overturned.
Amari Newtown, 18, was not wearing a seatbelt when the accident happened in Brunswick County. The driver, Destiny Freeman, 18, was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured. She has been charged with reckless driving.
A third passenger, 20, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
