Armed robbery ends in multiple car crash on Baltimore Washington Parkway

LAUREL, Md. – Police are investigating an armed robbery that started in Laurel, Maryland and ended on the Baltimore Washington Parkway near Route 198.

According to Laurel Police, three suspects wearing masks entered the Tastee Diner at 118 Washington Boulevard around midnight on Tuesday. They stole $140 from the establishment after striking an employee, who received minor injuries from the attack. They then escaped in a Burgundy BMW into Howard County.

The United States Park Police report that they responded to the southbound lane of the Baltimore Washington Parkway near Route 198 around 12:37 a.m. after receiving reports of a multi-vehicle crash. Police say that witnesses on the scene reported that, after the crash, a man armed with a gun exited one of the vehicles holding a gun. He fired at least one shot, which didn’t hit anyone on the scene, and carjacked one of the other vehicles on the scene. That vehicle was later recovered in Northeast, D.C.

No arrests have been made and police have reported that the suspect or suspects are still at large. The crash resulted in several people being transported to local hospitals for minor injuries.
