Man arrested in connection with fatal shooting

BOWIE, Md. – Prince George’s County Police arrested a D.C. man in connection with a fatal shooting that happened in Bowie, Maryland in July. The suspect is 26-year-old Jamal Ford.

According to officials, officers arrived in the 15700 block of Everst Drive on July 30th around 10:40 p.m. for a welfare check. They found a man in the roadway suffering from gunshot wounds. Cleve Monnity, 44, was pronounced dead on the scene. After a preliminary investigation, police found that Jamal Ford and Cleve Monnity had been been in an ongoing dispute which escalated to the fatal shooting.

Ford was arrested at his home with the assistance of the Metropolitan Police Department. He is currently awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
