UPDATE: Deadly small plane crash in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD —  Crews are investigating a deadly plane crash in Montgomery County. Fire and Rescue Service spokesman, Pete Piringer said  one person died in the crash that happened Tuesday evening.

When crews arrived they said the plane caught fire after the impact.  First responders said they looked  for other survivors and did not find anybody else. Piringer says they believe only one person was on the aircraft.

The plane was described as a Cessna style plane. The accident happened off Laytonsville Road by Hawkins Creamery Road that’s near Davis Airfield around 6:20 this afternoon.

Both the NTSB and FAA have been notified. As soon as we learn more from this investigation we’ll be sure to let you know.
