FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Animal protection police removed 82 cats from the home of a Falls Church man on Saturday.

After receiving a tip, police investigated the man’s home, where they found dozens of cats, many of which were suffering from illnesses. Police also found five dead cats, and collected their remains.

The cats were all taken to Fairfax County Animal Shelter, where many of them have been evaluated and are being treated by a local vet. Police say the cats will be available for adoption after they have completed the shelter’s standard intake process.

Police say they continue to investigate, and charges will be pressed “if appropriate”.
