UPDATE: PG fire marshal’s office investigating possible related fires

UPDATE: Fire investigators have found that the 7:30 a.m. fire at 3112 28th Parkway was the result of the rekindling of the earlier fire, according to officials. The estimated loss for that fire is $35,000. Officials say that the cause of the first fire at 3314 38th Parkway remains unknown at this time.

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — Investigators from the fire marshal’s office have begun to examine why a duplex in Temple Hills caught fire twice within seven hours.

The first fire occurred right before 1 a.m. on Sunday morning, and appears to have started on the rear porch. The other began at the duplex attached to the first location, around 7:30 a.m. Both were extinguished, with no injuries reported in either fire.

The first fire caused damages of around $50,000, and the cause is listed as undetermined. An origin investigation is underway.
