DC police investigate fatal shooting in Northeast

UPDATE: Police have cleared the scene. All associated road closures have reopened.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 1000 block of Rhode Island Avenue in Northeast D.C. on Monday night.

Officials say that police arrived on the scene to find an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. That victim later died.

As of 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, the area between the 1000 block and the 1200 block of Rhode Island Avenue, NE were closed due to the police investigation. Police ask that commuters  use 13th Street NE, Reed Street NE, Evarts Street and/or Franklin Street NE as alternate routes.
