UPDATE: Five transported to hospital after fire truck accident

UPDATE: D.C. Fire and EMS reports that 5 civilians were transported to area hospitals after an accident involving a fire truck. Two of those people were trapped. The four firefighters involved in the accident will be evaluated.

They also confirmed that the engine was en route to a reported fire.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – D.C. Fire and EMS is reporting an accident involving a fire truck at the intersection of Holmead Place and Monroe Street in Northwest, D.C.

Officials say that the accident does involve entrapment, though no fire department personnel is trapped. The accident involved two civilians in the other vehicle. D.C. Fire and EMS also reports that the unit was on call at the time of the accident.
