Metro Transit Police arrest employee on sexual offense charges

WASHINGTON, D.C– Metro Transit Police arrested a contracted MetroAccess employee,  Derrick Lamont Bowen, 44 of SE Washington, DC on sexual offense charges.  A witness called Prince George’s County police to report the incident that happened around 8 Tuesday morning.

According to the police report, Bowen was observed moving to the rear of the vehicle and then engaging in a sexual act with an adult female passenger.  The MetroAccess van was stopped in a church parking lot in the 127000 block of Claxton Drive in Laurel.  There were no other passengers on board. The adult female passenger has an intellectual disability and was taken to the hospital for an evaluation.

After reviewing the allegations, MTPD detectives charged Bowen with 3rd degree sex offense, 4th degree sexual contact, and 2nd degree assault.  More charges are possible as the investigation continues.
