UPDATE: Police identify victims of two deadly shootings in D.C.
UPDATE: Police have now identified the victims of last night’s deadly shootings. They also made an arrest in the shooting that occurred in the 2300 block of Good Hope Road, Southeast.
The Metropolitan Police Department has identified the victim of the shooting in the 2300 block of Good Hope Road, Southeast as 19-year-old Anaiona Gaston. On Saturday, police arrested 21-year-old Malik Fields and charged him with second degree murder, according to officials.
Police have also identified the victim of the other deadly shooting, which occurred in the 3500 block of 14th Street. He has been identified as Edward Roberts, Jr., 29. As of now, no arrests have been made in this case.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about that case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Metropolitan Police Department reported six shootings in D.C. overnight Friday into early Saturday morning, leaving two people dead.
One of the incidents occurred in the 2300 block of Good Hope Road in Southeast, D.C. and left one dead. Officials say that one female victim was pronounced dead on the scene. She suffered from a gunshot wound.
The other deadly shooting occurred in the 3500 block of 14th Street, Northwest. According to police, officers arrived on scene to find one adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.
The other four shootings did not result in any fatalities. Those shootings occurred in the following locations:
- 2400 block of Elvans Road, Southeast
- I-295 heading southbound at Suitland Parkway, Southeast
- 5300 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest
- 900 block of Emerson Street, Northwest
There was also a stabbing that occurred in the 200 block of 50th Street, Northeast. It did not result in any fatalities.
