Dudley was a fox hunter before he was donated to the Manassas Battlefield Park in 2003. He then joined the Prince William County Mounted Patrol Unit in 2005 through a unique program in which the county borrows federally owned horses to go in patrol. Dudley was a favorite of all of the people he met. He was officially retired Thursday, June 17.

Dudley will spend his retirement with two of his former riders: retired 1st SGT. Kim Chinn and retired 1st SGT. Susan Crosbie. He will also be living with two of his former patrol partners and friends: Sky and Shiraz.
