Police investigate fatal collision in Colesville

MONTGOMERY, VA – Montgomery police are investigating two single-vehicle collisions that occurred this morning in Colesville.

Police say they were called at approximately 6:55 a.m. and 6:56 a.m. for reports of two separate serious single-vehicle collisions in the same area. Officers from the 3rd and 4th Districts along with Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the 200 block of Randolph Road and to the area of Randolph Road and New Hampshire Avenue for the collisions.

At the Randolph Road scene, preliminary investigation revealed that a 2009 Toyota Camry was traveling eastbound at the 200 block of Randolph Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle came to rest in a residential yard. The adult driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the New Hampshire Avenue scene, a second investigation revealed that a black 2005 Mercury Mountaineer was traveling eastbound on Randolph Road and attempted to turn south onto New Hampshire Avenue, when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole.  The 20-year-old male driver was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

These collisions remain under investigation.
