WASHINGTON, D.C – Federal Center SW will remain closed for the remainder of the day for a full third rail insulator replacement. The decision came after Paul J. Wiedefeld, Metro General Manager/CEO, consulting with the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).

The incident, which occurred earlier this evening, has also several other Metrorail service disruptions. Service will remain suspended between Eastern Market and L’Enfant Plaza stations. Capitol South Station will also be closed for the rest of the day.
