WASHINGTON - Metro Police say that a Metrobus was taken by force Tuesday later striking and killing a pedestrian.

The suspect was described as an adult male and he was taken into custody.

The incident happened at about 10:45am, in Northeast Washington, near the 4200 block of Minnesota Avenue.  Officials say the suspect got on the bus near Jay Street and Kenilworth Avenue and rode to the next bus stop, where he then assaulted the driver.  Investigators say the bus driver and passengers got off the bus and the suspect sped off.  The suspect ended up striking a pedestrian at the Crown gas station on Burroughs Road and Minnesota Avenue Northeast.  The pedestrian was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Police told DCW50 the bus driver sustained non-life threatening injuries.
