Matilda The Musical is perfect for kids and adults this holiday season, playing at the Kennedy Center’s Opera House.  Based on the book by children’s author Roald Dahl, the musical follows the life of a gifted little girl named Matilda (Mabel Tyler – one of three actors who plays this role during the tour’s run) who must endure neglectful, if not cruel parents (played by Cassie Silva and Quinn Mattfeld –both employing comic relief), and a bullying headmistress (Bryce Ryness, who brought some of the greatest moments of laughter).

Matilda finds refuge in books, the library (and librarian Ora Jones) and her teacher, Mrs. Honey (played by Jennifer Blood).

The whole cast is impressive, especially with an ensemble of children who show remarkable stamina to pull off a more than 2-hour performance with ease.

MatildaThe Musical runs through January 10, 2015. For information, you can go to www.kennedy-center.org.
