SAN DIEGO – The Ultimate Warrior, one of the biggest professional wrestlers, reportedly died at the age of 54, World Wrestling Entertainment said Tuesday evening.
The famed wrestler, born as Jim Hellwig, was recently inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and appeared on WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw.
WWE confirmed the death in their statement:
“WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior. Warrior began his WWE career in 1987 and quickly went on to become one of the biggest stars in WWE history.”
The details regarding the cause and situation surrounding his death were not immediately released.
According to WWE, the Ultimate Warrior is survived by his wife and two daughters.
